    lead
    mercury
    nickel
    steel

    The most popular type of metal detector operates in the 1.5 kHz to 30 kHz frequency range. The type used by professional prospectors operate in the 30kHz to 300kHz range. The higher frequencies can penetrate heavily mineralized soil so they are more expensive. One manufacturer sells a metal detector that can be used on land or underwater and operates at 730 pulses per second.
