Can a stick metal detector detect whats in your shoes?

I want to know because, three guys tried to snatch my iPod and I had to run half a mile to get help; there isn’t a safer way for me to get to school. I just want to protect myself.

  1. I don’t quite understand how a stick metal detector would help you, but I think so.
If you don’t want people taking your ipod, consider using over-ear headphones and having it inside a pocket/bag that’s big enough for a cd player. It won’t stop a determined robber, but if you remove the conspicuousness of the white earbuds and having the ipod itself visible, they may decide whatever you have might not be worth enough money for them to care.
As it gets to be jacket season again, consider keeping your ipod in an inside pocket, and maybe even getting headphones with a volume control on the wire, so you don’t have to take it out to adjust the volume. If you can hear the would-be thieves approaching and they have to make more of an effort to take it thank just grabbing it out of your hand while you’re distracted, that helps.
Finally, you may just want to not listen to music on the way to school if it’s that rough of an area.
