Contact the University of Illinois (see url below)and tell them your story. They should have a record of who was on the team when they won the Big 10 back in ‘46. You have the initials, so it should be easy to narrow it down.

I think you are to be commended for trying to find the original owner. I’m sure he will appreciate it more than you know.
