My son got a metal detector for Christmas and I am looking for some good sites in the New Orleans area to go hunting for stuff.

i not sure where would be a good place to do that in new orleans and i don’t thing you can dig on public property eighter in the city. i would suggest you take a drive to gulf port or boloxi and go hunting on the beaches you will probably find lots of things there
